Four Decades of Leadership Evolution: Lessons from the Global Operations Frontlines
In this talk Daniel Helmig will present a reflective narrative highlighting his leadership journey across five industries over 40+ years. The symposium will also offer an experience-based roadmap for navigating leadership, operations, and global transformation into the future. The speaker will highlight the key leadership lessons across a range of diverse sectors. For example, The Ford years (1980s–2000) highlighting the shift from vertical integration to global value chains, cross-brand sourcing strategies, and the early stages of low-cost sourcing in Asia. The semiconductor years (2000–2010) with Infineon, reveal how procurement models were adapted and digital tools enhanced supply chain transparency. The global transformation years (2010–2020) at ABB, the focus will be on large-scale organizational restructuring, lean implementation and ERP integration across 250+ facilities.
In the final part of the session, the excellence and resilience years (2020–present), the speaker will focus on his experience at PepsiCo and UBS, highlighting personal resilience, diversity goals, and the founding of Helmig Advisory AG and research undertaken on decarbonizing supply chains.
The session will conclude with guidance for emerging leaders, emphasizing adaptability, sustainability focus, and managing trade complexity.

About Daniel Helmig
Daniel Helmig is an accomplished global executive with a distinguished career spanning over four decades across five key industries: automotive, semiconductors, power & amp, automation, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) and financial services. He has held a series of high-impact
leadership roles, including Corporate Transformation Leader, Group Head of Operations and Quality, Chief Procurement Officer (CPO), and Managing Director at leading multinational corporations such as the Ford Motor Company, Infineon Technologies, ABB, Credit Suisse (now UBS), and PepsiCo.
Daniel has also contributed to strategic governance as a member of the Supervisory Boards for ABB China and the U.S.-based supply chain logistics software company e2log. He was the founder and Chairman of the Board of ABB’s Supply Chain Operations entity, which was instrumental in trading
steel and other highly volatile commodities on a global scale.
